Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel had appealed to the Union Civil Aviation Minister to allow connectivity of Bilaspur to cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Two flights will operate from Delhi to Bilaspur on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Raipur: Air service will start from Bilaspur to New Delhi from March 1. This will start as a result of the continuous initiative taken by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to start Bilaspur airline service under the Regional Connectivity Scheme. CM Baghel met Union Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in Delhi on 4 February and requested Bilaspur to allow air connectivity to metros like Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. On this, the Union Minister had announced to start an Air India flight from Bilaspur to Delhi immediately.
What will be the timing of the flight?
Two flights of ATR 72 aircraft from Bilaspur to Delhi will be operated on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The first flight will leave Delhi and reach Bilaspur at 3.20 pm via Jabalpur and return to Delhi via Bilaspur at 3.45 pm via Prayagraj. (Delhi-Jabalpur-Bilaspur (1520-1545) -Prayagraj-Delhi). The second flight will reach Bilaspur at 4 pm via Prayagraj from Delhi and will go from Bilaspur to Jabalpur at 4.30 pm (Delhi-Prayagraj-Bilaspur (1600-1630) -Jabalpur-Delhi). Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India, has given its consent for this. According to the instructions of Hardeep Singh Puri on the request of CM Baghel in this regard, permission will be issued by the Airport Authority of India taking action on it soon.
During the meeting with Hardeep Singh Puri, Bhupesh Baghel had also requested to develop a cargo hub facility in Raipur, on which the Union Minister has instructed the chairman of the Airport Authority of India to carry out the site inspection and take necessary action. Baghel had also requested to start air service from Ambikapur Airport and from Jagdalpur Airport to start air service to the metros, on which the Union Minister assured of positive initiatives.
The Chief Minister thanked Hardeep Singh Puri for allowing the airline from Bilaspur to Delhi. He has said that the commencement of air services to Delhi will help in the economic progress, industrial development of Bilaspur and surrounding areas, while the public will have the facility of low cost air travel. Significantly, the state government has so far approved Rs 45 crore for the development of Bilaspur Airport, out of which Rs 21 crore has been spent.
