So far, Amazon has invested millions of dollars in India through e-commerce, payments and logistics operations. The company has said that it will manufacture these Fire TV Stick devices as per domestic demand at present.
The big companies of the country and the world are getting involved with the ‘Self-reliant India’ campaign launched by the Modi government at the center. In this episode, now e-commerce company Amazon has also become a part of it. The company says that it is going to put up a manufacturing unit in Chennai at the end of the year.
The company will manufacture its other devices including the Fire TV Stick in this unit. Apart from this, Amazon has also set a target of creating 1 million jobs by 2025 with an investment of 1 billion dollars for digitization of 10 million small and medium-sized businesses in India. The announcement was made after a meeting between Union Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Amazon India Senior Vice President Amit Aggarwal on Tuesday.

Union Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “Today India has become an ideal place for investment. Also we are poised to become the most prominent country in the world of supply in electronics and IT products industry. Production by our government The decision to introduce the Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme is being welcomed worldwide. We welcome the decision by Amazon to set up a manufacturing unit in Chennai. This will increase domestic production capacity and also create employment. This will help in promoting our self-reliant India campaign.
