Congress leader Anand Sharma has clarified after the Bharatiya Janata Party questioned Rahul’s statement comparing South India and North India. He said that after independence, North India has given great Prime Ministers like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. At the same time, he said that our former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is also from North India, so the Congress has never disrespected the region.
At the same time, he said about Amethi that when it comes to Amethi, we are grateful to the voters and respect them. Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Captain Satish Sharma, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were elected from Amethi. There is no question of disrespect. This is not the nature of the Congress and we have believed in united India.
He said that Rahul Gandhi might have said this while sharing his personal experiences. Sharma said that in which context he observed it, he himself can explain it, so there should be no question of misunderstanding.
Randeep Singh Surjewala also clarified
Congress’s national media in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala also hit back at the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said that in order to divert attention from the real issue of the country, BJP is distorting Rahul Gandhi’s statement. He asked whether there should be no politics of issues in the country. He said that BJP has been doing politics of distribution since the beginning and is still doing the same thing.
