The ICC has released the new Test rankings on the last day of the year. There have been many major changes in the rankings after the recently concluded three Tests.
As a top-order change in the players’ rankings, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has captured number one, overtaking Australian batsman Steve Smith and Indian captain Virat Kohli.
Kane Williamson benefited in the rankings with the help of his previous innings, while Steve Smith suffered a major loss due to poor performance in the series against India.
According to the new ranking, Williamson has moved up to the first place while Steve Smith has moved up to the third place. At the same time, Indian captain Virat Kohli still retained the second position.
Kane Williamson scored an unbeaten 251 not out against Hamilton in the same month in the West Indies and also scored 129 against Pakistan in the recently concluded first Test match.
