Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Monday that no one is being forced to say ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and there is nothing to be considered bad in such slogans. Significantly, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee refused to address a program in Kolkata after raising such slogans.
Banerjee refused to speak at an event organized to celebrate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on Saturday when slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ were raised in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
To commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter Netaji, Banerjee stood on the stage to begin her speech at a program organized at the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata, when slogans were chanted by some in the crowd.
In response to a question about Banerjee’s refusal to address the gathering after chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’, Yogi said, “We are not forcing anyone to speak.” But if someone says Jai Shri Ram, then there is nothing like looking bad in it. “Banerjee said that such ‘insult’ is unacceptable. Yogi claimed that Uttar Pradesh is one of the states where law and order is the best.
