Disha Ravi’s petition in Delhi High Court – Police should be stopped from making information about investigation

Posted on February 18, 2021February 18, 2021 by Nidhi Malviya

The lawyer for Disha argued in the court that this is a case where the rights of a citizen are being violated.

New Delhi: Climate activist Disha Ravi, arrested for sharing a ‘toolkit’ related to farmers’ demonstration, knocked on the door of the Delhi High Court, demanding that information about the investigation being conducted by the police be stopped from going public.

The lawyer for Disha argued that this is a case where the rights of a citizen are being violated. At the same time, lawyer Tushar Mehta, appearing on behalf of the police, said that no information was being leaked in the media on behalf of the police.

The counsel for Disha argued that Disha was arrested on February 13 and many documents of the direction after that are with the police. Not only this, the media is also constantly being told that they are getting information from the police.

The court asked the lawyer of Delhi Police to give an affidavit about it that no information was being leaked by the police. Disha’s petition will continue to be heard tomorrow.

Disha Ravi’s petition says that Disha Ravi was wrongly arrested and Delhi Police came to Delhi from Bangalore to take him to Bangalore court and was not given a chance to file a petition. The petition also said that Disha Ravi’s image is being damaged due to media trial, so he should be banned.

The petition also said that the WhatsApp chat that is going on in the media between Disha Ravi and Greta Thunberg should be stopped from running as it is taking away the rights of Disha Ravi’s free and fair trial.
