Everything about GM Electric Bikes

General Motors announced in November 2018 that they are plan to launch electric bikes, one model is folding and other one is compact. Its new e-bike brand name is ARĪV. According to General Motors press release later these bikes will launch in Europe. Since 2015 GM is working on these e-bikes.

The e-bikes

GM initially launched two bikes one is Merge and second one is Meld. Compact e-bike is called Meld and the folding one is called Merge. “Automotive-grade capabilities” available in bikes. Both bikes have 25KPH with four levels of electric assisted power. The battery takes three and half hours for charging and you can travel 64KM after full charging the automakers said. Both bikes comes with safety components in bikes users find integrated LED lights in rare and front and that is chargeable, for increase stopping power oversized brake is integrated in bike. The ARĪV meld €2.800 (about $3,100 ) and Merge is €3.400 ($3,800) in Belgium and Netherlands. In Germany prices are little bit lower then compare to Belgium and Netherlands, In Germany the ARĪV Meld is €2.750 and Merge is €3.350.

About making of e-bikes

Most of the bicycles manufacturing companies use motors of Bosch and Shimano but ARVI had their own mid-motor developed by GM. From last year BionX and GM working together, BionX manufacture e-bike motors. GM purchase 8,000 units at approximately $1,000 each from BionX foer design and engineering of a mid-motor system. Later $1,400 each units cost given by BionX to GM and at this moment GM pulled out of the deal and Bionx having fallen down. Last year GM announced that by 2023 all of his motor vehicles would be electric.
