Mumbai: The ‘Smart Saheli’ program has been started for the safety of women passengers on behalf of Central Railway in local trains. According to the Central Railway, the main objective of starting this program is to cover all 1774 suburban services on the Mumbai Division of Central Railway, achieve the target of zero crime against women and provide overall security to create trust among women passengers. is.
Under this program, a strong and speedy redressal has been made for the complaints of women passengers. Smart friends will also establish a two-way dialogue with women passengers and will work to develop confidence in them regarding their safety and security.
How smart saheli campaign will work
Sector Saheli Group – There will be 59 Sector Saheli groups to cover all 1774 local services. Each sector group is to be constituted as 31 service friends, one female SIPF / ASIPF / head constable as a force mentor, one female constable as assistant force mentor and one passenger mentor (especially representative of NGO / Railway Users Committee) Which will have a total of 127 members.
Station Saheli Group – 21 major stations were identified on the suburban section. These stations are being monitored round the clock. Each station will have a station Saheli group consisting of 15 regular women passengers of that station and 2 RPF station personnel.
Each group including 25 regular passengers on these women special local trains and 25 RPF employees.
Feedback and Monitoring Team at the Divisional Level – This team consists of all force mentors, passenger mentors, station-in-charge, service-in-charge, inspectors of RPF department. They will form a WhatsApp group called Smart-Saheli-R&M team.
All these groups regularly interact with women passengers and service friends. The R&M team will ensure timely and prompt response to complaints from women passengers.
