OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones have started receiving Android 11 based OxygenOS Open Beta 5 update. This smartphone was launched in April this year, which has now started getting a new software package for the open beta program for OxygenOS.
This update is being rolled out over-the-air (OTA) for users who are on the open beta path. The new software package brings with it some bug fixes and fixes of problems. Some features have been improved with this. It also includes Android Security Patch.
The new software package has been announced by OnePlus on the Community Forum. Users who are already on the OxygenOS Open Beta program for OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will receive it through the Open Beta 4 OTA. However, users who are on the stable software path can join this open beta program.
The new software package broadly covers various fixes covering issues such as messaging, volume adjustment, speaker functionality, and Bluetooth call connectivity. Apart from this it includes app start-up speed, update for December 2020 Android Security Patch, new animation effects for front camera and optimization of ‘Rewind Recording’ to record the last 30 seconds of games within the game space tool Huh.
Yakinan Open Beta software is less stable for bugs and problems than the regular software path and should be used only by advanced users, who are capable and willing to deal with any problem.
Open beta software allows users to access experimental features even before the extensive rollout of stable software. Many times access to the new version of Android is also obtained first.
Both OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro work with Android 11 on the stable and open beta software path. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor and its price in India is Rs 39,999 and 54,999 respectively.
