Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off the 100th farmer train from Sangola in Maharashtra to Shalimar in West Bengal. Central Railway started the first Kisan Rail as a weekly train in August 2020 after the lockdown, this train proved to be very effective

Multi Commodity Train Service is transporting vegetables like cauliflower, capsicum, cabbage, drumstick, chilli, onion etc. as well as fruits like grape, orange, pomegranate, banana, custard apple.
Indian Railways started the first ‘Kisan Rail’ from Devlali to Danapur on 7 August 2020.
There was a huge traffic of capsicum, pomegranate and grapes grown in Solapur, Sangola, Pandharpur, Modlimb, Kewati-Mahakal, Salgare in Sangli districts.
This train has proved to be a master stroke for orange farmers, which will not only increase the production of oranges but will also pave the way for the distribution of the famous oranges of Maharashtra across the country.
This is nothing less than a boon for Orange Producers. According to the Central Railway, Kisan Rail will continue its journey continuously to cater to the needs of small farmers and small traders.
