New Delhi: The process of sending 30 crore citizens of the country to get the vaccine in the first phase has started from today. The vaccine was not given in this, but the rehearsal of the system of giving will be started. Dry runs were conducted at Rajkot and Gandhinagar in Gujarat, Ludhiana and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar in Punjab, Veevada and Krishna in Andhra Pradesh and Nalbari and Sonitpur in Assam.
Two districts in every state and five hospitals in each district were selected. The purpose of the dry run was to take stock of the preparations before vaccination and to rectify it if there is any deficiency. In this dry run, the dummy vaccine was removed from cold storage and brought to the vaccine center. Crowd management, that is, how to handle the crowd, was also investigated. Real time monitoring of vaccine was also done. That means the whole process took place except the vaccine.
When the vaccine arrives, the planning of how to apply it to people was followed in the dry run. People’s data was taken and uploaded to the Cowin app. Kovin is an app designed by the government. The app itself will give information about those people who have to get vaccinated. It will also tell the date when the vaccine will be applied.
If it shows any negative effect after vaccination, then how to deal with it with difficulty was also investigated. Mock drills to provide vaccine to 25 people from each hospital. These are only 25 healthworkers. Dry runs started in Rajkot and Gandhinagar in Gujarat. Red circle is also built here for social distancing and 3 rooms have been prepared for mock drill of vaccine.
When the work of vaccination starts, a team of 5 officers will be posted at each center, who have been given the post of vaccination officer. The first vaccine officer will match the vaccine’s name to the list. The second vaccination officer will verify it through the Kovin app. The third vaccination officer is the doctor who will apply the vaccine. The fourth and fifth officers will manage the crowd. Also, the vaccine will monitor for 30 minutes.
The dry run of the vaccine ran from 9 am to 5 pm and will continue tomorrow. On the first day there was a target of giving dummy vaccines to 100 to 200 people. A half-hour after the dummy vaccine was also monitored. This whole dry run process is being done so that when the vaccine starts to be given, then there is no effort in planning and preparations.
