Shivraj cabinet of Madhya Pradesh approves ordinance against love jihad

The government headed by Shivraj Singh Chauhan in Madhya Pradesh has approved the Freedom of Religion (Religious Freedom) Ordinance 2020 (Love Jihad) on Tuesday.

According to the ordinance, a maximum provision of 10 years of imprisonment and fine of up to one lakh rupees has been made in case of conversion by marriage or any other fraudulent manner.

The government has brought the ordinance due to the postponement of the assembly session due to Corona. Now the government has sent it to the Governor for approval as an ordinance.

On Monday, the state Chief Minister Chauhan had said, “All the bills, including the Madhya Pradesh Religious Freedom Bill -2020, which we were not able to bring in the House due to the adjournment of the assembly session, will be implemented through an ordinance in a special meeting of the cabinet tomorrow.

Government brought ordinance due to corona virus

The bill was to be passed by presenting it in a three-day session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly but the session was adjourned on Sunday due to the current state of the corona virus. This is the reason why the government has brought the ordinance. Please tell that the session of the assembly was to begin on 28 December.

There are total 19 provisions in the law

The ‘Freedom of Religion Bill 2020’ was passed by a voice vote from the cabinet. There are a total of 19 provisions in the new law, under which the police will take action against the accused if a complaint is made on behalf of the aggrieved party.

If a person marries religion in the greed of money and property, then his marriage will be considered void. Apart from this, related institutions will also be considered equally responsible for conversion.
