Srinagar-Leh National Highway will open for vehicular movement from 28 February

On 28th February, the congestion of vehicles will be seen on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway. After reviewing the road condition, the Jammu and Kashmir government has given permission to open the national highway.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has given permission to reopen the Srinagar-Leh national highway for traffic from February 28. The officials gave information in this regard. He said that a meeting was convened by the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir PK Pol in which the situation was reviewed for the opening of the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) road for civil traffic from 28 February. On February 28, the road will be officially opened by the Lt. Governor of Ladakh for traffic.

Ladakh’s Divisional Commissioner attends meeting through video conferencing

Divisional Commissioner of Ladakh Saugata Vishwas attended the meeting through video conferencing. During the meeting, it was told that the road is clean for one-way traffic, but on the basis of weather advice, the road will be opened for civil traffic from 28 February.

It was also discussed during the meeting that several advisories need to be issued in view of slippery road conditions and avalanche warnings, including allowing both HMV and LMV and unilateral traffic to drive chain vehicles to avoid accidents. is.

Appropriate time will be set for movement

On the other hand, the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir said that both the advisories would be kept to prevent any situation, while the appropriate time would be fixed to allow the movement of vehicles from Sonmarg and Minmarg. He said that the cut-off time of vehicles from Sonamarg has been proposed at 10 am and the cut-off time for Meenmarg vehicles has been proposed at 11 am.

To ensure mobile connectivity for passengers along the highway in any emergency, the Divisional Commissioner has directed the Border Roads Organization (BRO) to provide logistics.
