Due to security concerns, twitter turns off its original feature in most countries that allowed users to tweet through SMS service. This feature is disabled in most countries but “Few Countries” can use this service.
Everybody will even now access important SMS messages expected to sign in to and deal with their records, it included.
There are not many users who use these services, this feature is with twitter from the beginning but some of the users still read tweets on SMS complaints about this service.
In September 2019, Twitter said that right now we temporarily disabled Tweet via SMS, or text message, to protect people’s accounts.
when the service launched, it was made about SMS. The character limit was 140-character but it was tailored to text message sizes, and you can be able to send and receive tweets via SMS. The SMS service by twitter is not last long because the user uses a smartphone and can access the Twitter account in-app.
This latest update moto is to “people keep their accounts safe,” twitter spokesperson said. Right now it’s not clear that what is the risk of sending or receiving the tweet via SMS, but twitter still wants to disable the feature for some time now.
“We turned off the remainder of our Twitter via SMS feature, except for a few countries that rely on it to use Twitter,” the Twitter spokesperson said. Twitter will still send “important SMS messages” for securing accounts, like authentication codes or OTP.
“We’re taking this step because of vulnerabilities that need to be addressed by mobile carriers and our reliance on having a linked phone number for two-factor authentication (we’re working on improving this),” it added
