The wait for a three-tier panchayat election may increase slightly. Elections for village, region and district panchayat are now expected in April instead of March. Its process can begin on March 19, after completing four years of the state government’s term.
Elections can be held in four phases from 15 to 30 April. Single phase voting may also go in May. The mandate of the policy of reservation of constituencies (wards) of three-tier panchayats can be issued by 15 February.
The intention of the state government was to start the election process from the third week of February first and to conduct the elections between March 20 and April 10. Preparations are afoot to take this pre-conceived program for about a month. Polls can now be held by the end of April by releasing the election schedule in the third week of March.
According to sources, the reservation policy for this election has been finalized. Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat Raj Manoj Kumar Singh may issue its mandate around 15 February.
The system of reservation will be in rotation. A condition can be added to this that if a seat was reserved for the Scheduled Castes or Backward Classes in 2015, then this time should not be reserved for these classes as much as possible.
There are two reasons behind the election. The first is that on March 19, four years of the state government’s tenure are being completed. The government’s intention is to celebrate four years of achievements and take them to the public.
For this, there is a plan to campaign at both the government and BJP organizations. If the election program is released in the third week of February, the government will not be able to celebrate it due to the adoption of a code of conduct.
The reason for the farmer movement
The second reason is believed to be the peasant movement. Villages in western UP have been involved in the peasant movement in Delhi. It should not affect the election, the government is also considering it. When given time, the resentment created by the movement will be removed.
