The work of delimitation of Panchayats in Gorakhpur district has almost been completed. The population, number of panchayats, district panchayat and kshetra panchayat wards have also become almost clear.
This time Panchayat elections will be held in 1294 villages of the district. 60 gram panchayats have reduced compared to the previous panchayat elections. In 2015 elections were held in 1354 gram panchayats.
This time the number of panchayats has come down due to many villages joining the municipal bodies. Similarly, the number of wards of area panchayats and district panchayats is also decreasing due to the reduction of population of about 2.50 lakh in the panchayats of the district.
A few months ago, 46 villages joined the municipal bodies due to the expansion of Municipal Corporation and three Nagar Panchayats. Two new Gram Panchayats were formed with the exit of these villages under the control of Panchayati Raj Department.
In such a situation, preparations were being made for elections in 1308 gram panchayats, but after the notification of the expansion of Gola Nagar Panchayat was issued, 14 more villages joined the municipal body.
Now in a total of 1294 villages, the princes are to be elected. The population survey was done before partial delimitation, according to which about two and a half million voters have been reduced.
A ward of the District Panchayat has a population of 50 thousand. A population of two thousand in the ward of Kshetra Panchayat. Due to reduced population on this standard, five wards of Zila Panchayat and 118 wards of Kshetra Panchayat have been reduced.
