Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar and Piyush Goyal met senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday, just a day before another round of talks with farmers’ organizations that were opposing the new agricultural laws.
News agency PTI quoted sources as saying that the ministers discussed in this meeting about the government’s stand in the talks with farmers on Wednesday.
Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Prakash are leading the government in talks with the farmer.
Thousands of farmers have been protesting at the borders of Delhi for more than a month against the three new agricultural laws of the Center and they are demanding withdrawal of the related laws.
Most of them are from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, who have come to Delhi border demanding the withdrawal of the three agricultural laws brought by the government in September.
It is important to note that the farmers’ organizations have been called for talks on behalf of the Center.
Farmers’ organizations are adamant on insisting that the government should bring back three agriculture related laws.
The government argues that these laws will improve the agricultural sector, while farmers fear that it will leave them helpless in front of the corporate.
