The RBI has given a statement on the news related to the closure of old notes of 100, 50 and five rupees in the coming days.
New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has rejected claims that it said that old notes of 100, 50 and five rupees will go out of circulation in the coming days. RBI said, “It is being claimed in the news that in the coming days, old notes of 5, 10 and 100 rupees will not run.” This report is false.
RBI will give people the opportunity to deposit in the bank before closing the notes of 5 rupees, 10 rupees and 100 rupees.
It was also said in the reports that the RBI will not abruptly close an old note in view of the chaos after 500 and 1000 notes were closed in demonetisation. For this, only by bringing a new note of that value in circulation in the market first, the old note is being taken out of circulation.
